On May 1, 1998, then Texas Governor George W. Bush appeared as the guest speaker at the rededication ceremonies honoring the restoration efforts of the Old Blanco County Courthouse Preservation Society that saved the historic courthouse.

Leaders of the OBCCPS joined Governor Bush on the speaker's platform in front of the Old Courthouse for his dedication speech and ribbon cutting.
