Years of planning, public meetings, fund raising, and coordination with Texas Historic Commission and Blanco Historic Preservation Commission resulted in the development of a plan for landscaping improvements. Sidewalks on three sides as well as the sidewalk leading to the North (front) door were installed in 2003. Work on the second phase begin early in 2010. The Main Street sidewalk is now in place as well as approach walks to the east and west doors. The unsightly and hard to use handicapped ramp built in 1998 was removed and replaced with a gently sloped approach walk to the west door. Long ago promised commemorative bricks are now in place. New lighting has been added to improve safety in entering/exiting at night thanks to a grant from LCRA. Plans for additional plantings and benches are in place and will be implemented as funds are available. Please participate in the beautification of the Courthouse Square through both your membership and contributions. Volunteer assistance is welcome.
Consider making a
special contribution for the landscape project -
your contribution can fund plants and grass or
support general landscape needs. |
