The 2009 Christmas season officially got underway in Blanco with the traditional OBCCPS sponsored Lighting Ceremony at the Old Courthouse the day after Thanksgiving, November 27. Festivities again began with special music on the Old Courthouse steps at 5 PM. The lights went on at 6:00 P.M. revealing the Old Courthouse in all its holiday splendor. All were invited upstairs to enjoy the beautifully decorated Christmas tree, punch and cookies, special music and a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Merchants around the square stayed open late with refreshments, horse-drawn carriage rides, and musicians adding to the festive occasion. On December 12th, our Christmas Parade circled the square while special Christmas Market Day on the Old Courthosue grounds offered shoppers a wide variety of handcrafted items for gift giving. |
